On my first trip to Paris I discovered a gallery that I have visited many times: Galerie Breheret, 9 quai Malaquais (the street that runs along the Seine on the Left Bank), at the corner of rue des Sts Peres. The staff speaks some English (not a lot), and are very nice. They are good about helping with VAT refunds, etc., and I have never had any problem with any aspect of dealing with them.
The gallery has mostly smaller pieces, in all price ranges, but a lot that are very reasonable yet "serious" art. Some are watercolors or arcylics, but most are limited series signed etchings (they will sell unframed so you can roll up into a tube and transport easily). Several of the artists specialize in scenes of Paris (particularly Lynn Shaler) that are wonderful reminders of my favorite city!

Becky, that's great info. I've always wanted to buy a small piece of art to bring home and didn't know where to look. Place du Tertre just wasn't what I was looking for . And I didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to find just the right place. Your suggestion just went on The List. Thanx

Holger, this is only about two blocks from the other one I mentioned (which is a good bet if looking for things for others). This one is at the corner of rue des Ste Peres, and rue de Seine, where the other is located, is one or two streets over (in the direction of ND, away from the direction of ET).
This whole area is loaded with galleries, interior decorating shops, etc., and is fun to walk around.

;D Thanks again Becky, I am eagerly waiting for my Moleskin so I can start putting in te shopping addresses. If the dollar keeps getting weaker I will shop but probably buy very little. More gifts than for my but I usually do that anyway but I will look at sheet sets if deep enough for a mattress with a feather bed and table linens.
