In about the same area on rue du Bac as Ryst Dupeyron (79 rue du Bac) but on the other side of the street is a shop called Mine d'Argent which sells used (and sometimes genuine antique) silver and silverplate items.
I've gotten a number of pieces of flatware there over the years because I enjoy the look of mixing similar patterns together. The prices always seemed quite reasonable to me, and if the item is one that qualifies as an antique (100 or more years old, therefore not subject to customs duty when you return to the states) they will give you something that says this.
In addition to flatware, they also have urns, bowls, candlesticks, etc. (and I seem to recall that they may have some silver jewelry, as well).

This sounds like an interesting shop to explore--thanks, Becky. I've added it to my list, and looked up the address for anyone else interested: 108 Rue du Bac (it's listed as A La Mine d'Argent)

How did I miss this post?
Another addition to my list as I've collected antique silver for years!

Have been to Mine de Argent and there are some snobby old ladies in there! She was not impressed with what I bought - did not spend enough I suppose!

Hi, Ladyjicky and welcome to the forum. Sorry you had a bad experience with the staff at Mine d'Argent - you might want to give it another try at some point, I've been there at least 3 or 4 times now and always was quite happy with my purchases and the staff I met.
