I came across an article in a magazine which mentioned the Musee de L'Homme. I have never seen anything about it before. I am wondering if anyone has visited the museum. I am an anthropology buff and seeing Lucy sounds exciting. Unfortunately we only have about 4 days in Paris and I'm not sure if this is a "first time in Paris" stop. The article mentioned that the restaurant Le Cafe de L'Homme is an okay place to get a meal with a view. This one is new to me! Any advice would be helpful!
35 days and counting!!!

I'm sorry, I can't advise about this one (I'm sure others will know it, and help out). But, if you are interested in things like that then on a future trip you likely would very much enjoy the prehistoric sites in the Dordogne if you have not been there yet.

Sorry, but I don't know a thing about the museum. The cafe has been on my list for awhile tho! Phread and Luvparee have both recommended it for the food and the view.

I haven't been to the museum but I have spent a lovely hour sitting on the terrace at the Cafe de l'Homme having a glass of wine and enjoying the view of the ET. The interior of the restaurant is elegant in a very understated way.

I haven't been to the Musée de l'Homme either, but I second Gitte's suggestion for you to visit the Grande Galerie de l'Evolution, and even more the Galerie de Paleontologie et d'Anatomie comparée (you'll be able to read about it on the same website, and see some pictures too) . This one is only about animals, with plenty of fossiles and skeletons, and is more of an old fashion museum, but we liked it a lot, and the 19th century galerie architecture also adds to its appeal . Both galeries are located on the beautiful Jardin des Plantes . Visiting both + strolling in the Jardin will take you a good half day minimum, but they are really a "must visit" IMO . And they are an absolute not-to-be-missed for those visiting Paris with children or teen-agers (Toutou ...) .

I've been to both the Musee de L'Homme and the Musee de l'Marine that are in the Palais de Chaillot. Even for a first time in Paris visitor , if you are interested in anthropology , I'd put it on my list. It's well laid out and you could just visit the areas that might interest you. We saw an excellent exhibition of Inuit culture there a few years ago,
The adjoining Musee de L'Marine really took my fancy. It's worth seeing just for the carved figureheads from old sailing vessels.
HAven't tried the cafe, so will put that on my list!
