Does the Promenade Plantee and Viaduc du Arts generally follow Rue du Lyon to Ave. Daumesnil, and then clear to the Bois de Vincennes? I'm having a hard time finding exactly where it is on a map. Gitte posted this link, but I can't read the street names and I'm taking a guess: www.promenade-plantee.org/(on above link, click on "accés" then click on the map to enlarge it)

Annette, I am going to quote from my "City Walks: Paris" cards...I have never been there but it has been on my "to do" list for several years. "Head down rue de Lyon to the right of the Opera-Bastille. Stay on the left side of the street and you will soon come upon the brick arcades along ave Daumesnil and an electric range of galleries and studios. Just before the store "Surcouf, at rue de Rambouillet, head up the stairs to the Promenade Plantee, .... If you head east, this Promenade's path will eventually take you all the way out of the city to the Bois de Vincennes. In the case of this walking tour, return toward Bastille along the path through the Promenade Plantee. You will pass rose bushes, pretty arbors of wisteria, and clusters of bamboo.... When you get close to the end, keep an eye out for the staircase on the left and return to the Bastille metro."
Does this help?

Thank you so much, Betsy! Yes, that pretty much confirms what I had been guessing. BTW, do you like the City Walks cards? I've got them on my Amazon wish list, but haven't ordered yet.

Greyghost, like you, the Viaduc has been on my To-Do list for several years. I am determined to do it on this trip.

HG...when are you going again? Can't wait for the trip report.
Annette...I do like them, however I think they may be a bit outdated. Not the streets or museums but nearby attractions like restos or shops. I have found some not to be there anymore.

Thanks Betsy, that's good to know. How long do the walks generally take? Are they mostly short jaunts you can cover in an hour or so, or more detailed that would take most of a day?

Steve, thanks for that link--it's the best map I've seen of it so far. Darn, I was hoping it went clear to the Bois de Vincennes, tho! Guess we'll have to walk part of the way "on our own".

Annette, most are 1-2 hours, depending how often you stop or detour. We do the latter. I really use them to get me to a place, then go from there. They do give a bit of fact and some history. But it is very short.

Greyghost, I am flying on Christmas night. Coming home on 12/31. When she heard I was going, sistereurope decided that it would be a good time to take her mother (luckymama), so we are happily obsessing over restaurant choices these days.
