This is not about the best time to go because of crowds. Just wondering ... what would you recommend to firstimer? Going during the day or night? Don´t say both We plan to climb Arc de Triomphe too, so maybe ET at night and Arc during the day? When I see all those pictures taken from ET at night with the city all illuminated ... what do you think?

The first time, go during the day. After that, when you go at night, your breath will be taken away. It is an awesome and amazing steel structure in the day time. At night, all lit up, it is just breathtakingly gorgeous. You never get tired of it. You'll find yourself walking down a street, and see it pop up over the top of a building and you're struck all over again.

I´d go to the Eifel Tower during the day, and to the Arc at night to see the Tower twinkle from there (though I don´t know how late is the Arc open)

I really liked the Arc at night, I went up about sunset. I used my pass to visit museum during the day, then went to Arc in the evening, taking full advantage of pass. hours April 1-Sept 30 open to 11pm. link to general info. www.parismuseumpass.com/en/musees_infos_pratiques.php?musee_id=5if that doesn't link you to page with hours, etc. then use museum pass link, click on language (flags on left) click on museums and monuments, scroll through list and then click on museum/sight you are "researching" www.parismuseumpass.com all listed are on museum pass.

Thank you everybody!
Penny - thank you, I have a list of opening hours of all sights, but that was very kind of you.
The original thought was to do ET as the first thing in Paris. We will drive from Prague and if everything is OK, we will arrive around 18:00 or 19:00. Then I wanted to do ET but all of you recommend a day visit so I will reconsider it ...
