VLAMINCK exhibition at Luxembourg

I'm not really sure who this artist is, but the paintings look very interesting, coloriste-style.

Googled a bit and found:
It seems that there was a French expressionist painting "school" called fauvisme, to which belonged Henri Matisse, Raul Dufy, André Dérain and Maurice Vlaminck. Bright colours, broad stokes with the brush and primitive -sometimes distorted- figures.

How many lashes do I get for being such an ignoramus? This is one I would miss. I vowed not to think of taking a trip until the dollar is a little more advantageous for me unless a fortune drops on my lap (LOL).

Thank you Gitte, for bringing this to my attention, as I did miss it when you first posted it. Vlaminck was indeed one of the founding members of Fauvism along with Matisse and Derain. He was a colorist as you noted, but later in his career he leaned more towards Expressionism and was influenced by Cezanne. He also was a noted printmaker.
