We visited this museum several years ago and really enjoyed it...even me! It had been closed for renovation for a few years and I just saw where it had reopened in 2006 and we missed it.
It s housed in a beautiful Mansart building, Hôtel Guénégaud building in the Marais.
While it does have lots af weapons and stuffed animals, it also contains some wonderful paintings... Monets and Rembrandts among them.
It is worthwhile just to see the building and you might find the collection interesting.
It's on our list for a return visit in the Fall.

Oooh, this is the museum were we were able to listen to a hunting horns "concert" for St Hubert day, last November ! Actually, the concert was in the courtyard and we didn't enter the museum (it was time for lunch at Ambassade d'Auvergne ;D), but the building was beautiful indeed .

Thanks, demarais !! I knew about the existence of this museum, but I would never have considered going there (unless dragged there by a hunter or other "merry-son-of-nature"). It looks very charming - such pretty salons ! Absolutely an option for a more off-the-beaten-track visit ! www.chassenature.org/site_musee/musee-home.html

My husband would love this place...thanks for telling us about it demarais, and gitte for posting the link. This is why I love this forum...to me, finding out-of-the-way, little known gems and places off the typical tourist path is one of the true joys of traveling. Everyone here has such wealth of knowledge, and more importantly, everyone is willing to share
