Following 2 weeks of photographing from Moscow to St. Petersburg, I returned to Paris for a week at the beginning of October. I no longer needed to photograph in infrared for my upcoming book or revisit the monuments, memorials and museums I saw my previous 5 visits. I just wandered with my digital camera. Included are some images inside the Pantheon and of Paris from the height up on the dome. Also included are images from L'Orangerie and bits and pieces from the 5th and 6th. So as not to bore you, I culled 35 or so images from the 500+ that I took. I would be interested in your comments. If you will send me your email address, I will send them to you. My email address is randy-silver-photo@juno.com My web address, with about 20 infrared images to be included in my book is www.rssilverandlight.com

Hi Gitte - Congratulations on your new camera, although you still have more to do with the images than the camera. Thanks for the photographs (can't call them snapshots or photos anymore). The key word is impact. The zig zag looks good, you could tighten it up a bit by cropping in from the left and the foreground. Good exposure and color. I like the church shot but a little too much interference from the branches. A better exposure is needed on the shot of the road. If there is too much white sky, it tricks the exposure meter and it darkens the photograph. Less sky and more foreground. Good use of foreground framing with the trees ! Your images are in the NTS category ... (Not Too Shabby)

Merci mille fois for your kind help, randy ! cropping = ? exposure = ? Well, I can guess that exposure might have something to do with the light coming into the camera ? On this new one, there are different settings I can choose, among others one that says night shots, that might help in the dark afternoons also. As to the cropping, I guess it means clipping off ?? hmmm....haven't really got to the editing-chapter in the textbook yet.

Gitte, so your new baby is finally at home ;D !
And it seems that you have mastered well enough the technical matters ?...
You write about a "textbook", do you mean that YOU got a real book from Canon while I got a stupid DVD ?

......."textbook" in the metaphoric sense. But yes, I did get a small booklet which was enough to get me started using the contraption.
I will not post my pics in this thread, ad they are not from Paris.

Randy, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed St. Petersburg during the bread lines (oi) the stories I've got, and Moscow in the later years. I told my husband that I would move to Latvia because its so close to Finland by boat or helicopter. Their economy is changing, things are being rebuilt and it is truly beautiful. I don't now know, but just a couple of years ago it was a great bargain. Not much to do with France, but you started it w. St. Petersburg (0i) and I can almost travel anywhere. I need to go to Croatia etc. soon. I'd love to see St. Pete pics. Thanks SusanB
