Manufacure des Gobelins' exhibition

For those interested in tapestry (and who will visit Paris before the end of September, of course), the Manufacture des Gobelins celebrates its 400 years of existence with an exhibition held in the galearie des Gobelins until the 30th of Sept, 2007 .
The exhibition is split in two parts . First, 400 years of creation at the Gobelins', with some magnificent ancient tapestries . Second,
modern tapestries and modern tapestried-covered furniture, since a department of the Manufacture is now working on contemporary creations with famous designers .

The exhibit is very beautiful, both the modern part and the ancient things. There are also other objets d'art on display on the first floor, big golden chandeliers etc.
Unfortunately there was a strike, when I was there, so there was no visit to the workshops whiwh I had looked forward to very much.

I am planning on doing this in September too! I stayed in the area, as Gitte knows, my last visit but didn't go..now I'm glad I didn't as I'm looking forward to this!
