I just read a fun article about Paris in one of my travel magazines (TravelAge West, 5/28/07), and thought I'd share some of the info with everyone. Some of this we all know about, but a few were new to me so I thought maybe others might like to know too (and the links are good resources). Free music in the parks from May to October (this sounds great, but the link isn't working yet...hopefully it will be up soon!) www.paris.fr/parcsetjardins/loisirsauvertMediterranean roots, from ancient pharaohs to classical Greeks, and Sicily to Sardinia and everything in between concert at the Arabic Institute thru June 2 www.imarabe.orgParis Jazz Festival, June 9-July 28 in the Parc Floral www.parcfloral.comGrab your tambourines and head into the streets for the all-night music and dancing festival Fete de la Musique, on June 21. Anyone can play any instrument, anywhere--and there are concerts. fetedelamusique.culture.fr/87_English.htmlParis Plage, July 19 - August 20 Journee du Patrimonie, the first week of September, is a weekend of free access to monuments that aren't open to the public, including the Elysee Palace, foreign embassies, private gardens, the Senate house and more. (no website for this) Les Nuits Blanches is held the first week in October with a party in Paris that lasts until the next day. Museums are open after-hours and there are light shows all over town. (no website listed) Lastly, Les Soldes begin June 28

Oh, me too, Shoesy! I'm still hoping for a trip in November/December, but all these fun things will be over by then.
Gitte, I know you leave next week, but how long are you staying? I think I've seen a post about it, but can't remember... I am VERY jealous!!!

Whoah, my Danish friend! You will be airborne on the 17th? I wish my next trip was that soon! I suspect you will go on a lot of interesting walks and...oh, I can't wait to hear about all your gadding about...but we have time yet before you leave to just dream about it in advance...but the count down is certainly ON~!!!!! No question, I am certifiably envious..... Say, as to those b-day layered cakes...I think the Orthello cake looks GREAT ! Think I will swing over to Denmark on my next b-day so to have that cake ! ;D
