Does anyone remember a former member of OPF named Hat? She operated a dog bakery in Paris - in the 14th or 15th - can't remember for sure. I did make the trek out to meet her and to see her bakery - bought a t-shirt to bring home to Frankie - I liked her very much - she was so warm and friendly! Anyway, just read the following on Adrian Leeds newsletter
>>>>>>>>>>>I got news that our old friend, Hat (Harriet) Sternstein, was found dead in her apartment in Tel Aviv from no immediate cause.
You may remember Hat as the proprietor of "Mon Bon Chien" here in Paris, a 'gourmet pet bakery,' before the French government wouldn't renew her license and French visa. She subsequently moved to Israel where I introduced her to my oldest friend's daughter (Talya Rasner) who was opening an American-style bakery and was looking for a baker. Hat quickly became more than the baker at "NOLA" -- she became part of their family and helped the café/bakery achieve a huge success. Hat will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her or tasted her baked goodies. News of the funeral is pending.<<<<<<<<<<
I was so shocked to read this news! I'm thinking some of you may remember her! Adrian also posted a pic of Hat and her two doggies - I tried to copy/paste here but it wouldn't let me paste! Maybe you can check her newsletter: Parler Paris Up in Smoke
Adrian's newsletter this time was also bad news but it does have a good ending - her apartment building caught on fire and she credits her neighbor with calling Adrian to tell her there was a fire and to get out! Thankfully, the residents were able to return to their apartments after the fire was out and the only damage was from the smoke! They're all very lucky!
