Hi all. I am looking for some events to attend in the evening during my stay in Paris. I've come across this event - www.classictic.com/Paris/10054/Les_Solistes_Francais/35322.html and I wanted to know if anyone has seen them, and what did you think? The price is right, and I don't need to know French to enjoy it. Thanks, Mez.

If you haven't seen a concert at Ste Chapelle, it's a perfect spot. Given the reference to solstice, I thought perhaps you were there in the summer. One of my favorite Paris memories is listening to a chamber orchestra play Vivaldi at Ste Chapelle on the evening of the summer solstice, with the late sunlight coming through those glorious windows. I only half-listened to the music, because it was so easy to feel transported back centuries to how it might have been going there for a moment of quiet contemplation.
P.S. Just realized I mistook "soliste" for "solstice" -- oh well, my comments still stand!

Bonjour Mez,
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, don't forget to buy a copy of Pariscope and L'Officiel des Spectacles at any newspaper kiosque. THe cost is about 40 centimes each. You will get a complete list of all the concerts, gallery opening, exhibit etc.
The concert or recitals are mostly in churches, some well know like Julien-le-Pauvre and some more obscure giving you the chance to discover new gems. Tickets are at the door for about 10 or 12 Euros, just show up 1/2 hour before the start.
The Saint-Chapelle concert are divine Berkeley is absolutely right. When are going to the City of Light ?

Hi guys - don't worry - Pariscope is on my list of things to buy as soon as I get to Paris. I arrive in the afternoon of Oct 2 and leave early morning on Oct 8. I've already realised this is just NOT enough time.
I suppose my theory in booking now was I wanted at least one or two evenings already taken care of. The rest I'll decide once I get there.
Thanks, mez.
