This TV show premiered last week. Features amateur bakers in a competition - one gets eliminated each week.
This week's episode includes macarons. Looks like several bakers struggle with them. I know I did when I tried to make them last Christmas.
One of the judges is Paul Hollywood. I never heard of him, but apparently he's known as the George Clooney of baking. He's worth tuning in for even if you're not into baking. ;D

I forgot to tape it and will be out at ballet tonite Le Corsair. I watched last week too...wasn't too impressed with their efforts! Thanks for not knowing who Paul Hollywood is..me either..nor the female judge..and I thought I was up on the foodie things! Guess since I no longer have Food Network or cable I've fallen behind! Do know who Jeff Farnsworthy(sp.?) is though

Hi Annette. It's on CBS. Apparently it's a spinoff from the Great British Bake Off on BBC.
It was amusing to watch Jeff Foxworthy (You might be a redneck if... ) pronounce macarons.
Some of the contestants had the same problems I did - the shells cracked and were chewy. Some did ok, but none looked as good as what you see in a patisserie window.
The show's so edited it's tough to really get a feel for the contestants and the judges. But Paul Hollywood is certainly nice to watch!

There are so many great TV cooking competitions right now, it would be practically impossible to discuss them all in one article. Many of the most popular televised cooking competitions are on the Food Network, but there are also many respected and well received competitions on Bravo, The Learning Channel, the Cooking Channel, PBS and other networks.
