I recently had a few days in our favourite city, unfortunately my legs don't allow a lot of walking now so this is just a few random shots as I metroed or bussed, about town. I generally visit the viewpoint above the parc de Belleville, although the weather was very hazy Some murals had been painted on the wall at the back of the amphitheatre. Very clever to allow the swimmers to exit via holes in the walls There are more rough sleepers than ever in Paris Another port of call was Galeries LaFayette, which was busy I had to have a coffee, but needed a spoon to eat it I changed from the bus to the metro at Place des Fetes, with its much maligned public housing. I wondered if this was a prototype for the pyramid at the Louvre And did not admire the metro entrance, I had trouble locating the metro without the familiar symbols and also criticized this modernist stuff I had my posh meal at le Laumiere and was astonished when the waiter plonked an old saucepan in front of me with my fricassee of champignon starter in it. Perhaps they were short of plates ;D I had a decent steak, and took this in memory of my wife who demanded that steak resembled boot leather I went up the Tour Montparnasse but the haze was bad However les Invalides shone brightly through the clag and I luckily caught two trains on the metro. The telephoto compresses this line so much the stations appear ridiculously close together I cannot avoid graffiti, and this van caught my eye As did this street art To finish off I treated myself to a new mug I

Oh Mossie, what fun your photos are. Actually, I think that pyramid looks more like a toppled church steeple, no?
Those French fries looked good enough to pluck off the screen and pop in my mouth!

Yum! Just what a steak should look like. Paris is the place I never have to worry about overcooked meat.

I love that copper pot at le Laumiere. And the steak is done just the way I like it.
Thanks for posting!

The restaurant is le Laumiere in the 19e, laumiere.com/ . If you feel like risking it it is within 50 yards of the Laumiere metro. It is very popular with the better off locals and very often one sees family tables of 8 or so. The boss, Eddy Zouari is a real old fashioned restauranteur and was maitre d at la Coupole at Montparnasse.

A wonderful photo blog, Mossie, thank you! And it looks like we're all in agreement as to how a steak should be cooked.

I had planned a meandering visit to that area this past trip but the weather did not cooperate! September......

We have enjoyed the panoramic views of Paris from both Parc de Belleville and Parc de Saint-Cloud, the latter after stumbling about and walking uphill a lot on a freezing day trying to find the overlook place.
Parc Saint-Cloud is a bit difficult to find one's way in, but quite a marvelous place.

No other neighborhood is like it in Paris. Some interesting streets are to be found here, many of them meandering, shady ones, with interesting.

Hi everybody,
Like Sister and Denise, I rarely get to OPF these days. I can't get connected at work and I hardly get cell signal at home. Want to say I miss you all!
Mossie, it is good to read about your meanderings. You are truly my favorite Flaneur. But as we get older, the ease of getting around becomes slower. Am speaking personally! Thank you for the pictures. I specifically enjoy the murals and the graffiti.
Bisous, Lilia
