We were finally successful in getting into Terrior Parisien for lunch this past Sunday. We arrived at 1 without a reservation and they were really busy, but offered us seats at the bar or to wait 10 minutes for a table, so we opted to wait. It seems to be a happening place with a good vibe. I almost wish we had taken the bar seats, as we'd have been able to watch the 5 or 6 professionals in the open kitchen. Tables on the left side of the bar would probably have a good view, too.
We had reservations for a big dinner with friends that night, so we didn't want to eat too much and both ended choosing soup. Sharon went with the onion soup, which was not the traditional gratineéd version, but a more modern take with a broth much more beefy than the norm. There were some cheesy croutons and marrow along with the requisite onions. I ordered lentil soup which had a great flavor, creamy, and had lots of crispy lardons. We shared a coronet of crispy matchstick fries, then indulged in an excellent caramelized pain perdue made from brioche with a boule of ice cream....yum.
The daily special was rotisserie chicken that looked wonderful--it appeared to be juicy and came with roasted potatoes mixed with tiny diced carrots and lots of green (parsley?) in the sauce. It wasn't your usual rotisserie chicken and potatoes (not that there's anything wrong with the regular Parisian version!). We also saw a beautiful planche de charcuterie come out to a neighboring table that looked awesome. Most of the desserts are displayed at the end of the bar as you enter the restaurant, so you can drool over them as you wait
I'm anxious to go back for dinner some time--and will definitely make reservations ahead. If you're staying within easy reach, you should try it!
