PRUNIER AND FREDERIC SIMONIN
Both for the Dejeuner menu...aka welcome to foam Delicious but...prevalent
Prunier Ave Victor Hugo 16th
Dined here on Monday 45 E dej menu.
Stiffest service of the places like this we've sampled over the years A bit too much so upon arrival but improved after ordering a bottle of champ and caviar tasting in addition to the menu.
Nice banquette table in between an elderly couple at the corner, into the first course of their multi course caviar menu. A group of four office mates, male and female on other side.
We were not offered dej menu along with regular menus and wine list The office folks were We asked and waiter plucked one...a small paper menu ..off of the bar which was set with place settings.
After the caviar...decided seafood emporium we really should have some...good thing I didn't wait for V-Day! ..wonderful...., the amuse bouche,.roasted shrimp in seaweed foam in a little glass..seaweed never tasted so good! Then I had avocado with cod mousse..again ..no complaints about food..excellent! Next haddock in a lite, foamy curry sauce avec a cocotte of celery root puree...heaven!
Dessert..a slice of decadent Opera cake. Cafe and the "little cookies" medelaines, canelles, and chocolats!
Waiter came to tell couple their driver called and will be there in 10.. Looked like they enjoyed themselves .and each other!
Decor oceany blue and green with the lovely tile floor I had heard about but not quite what I expected.

The up and comer in the 17th...discreet corner...w/0 the valet parking would have missed it!
Lunch here was on Friday. Totally different welcome...nicely warm but equally professional Dej menu is 39E. Apologies that the dej menu is not translated into anglais, the regular menus on the regular menu are.,..presumably because it changes frequently.
Lent, Friday so fish in order again, no problem, then the amuse bouche arrives..now if it had been any other meat would have said...oh, lent and not eaten but ...Fois Gras mousse , parm foam on top in a little glass..possibly the best thing I ate the whole trip!..could have just gotten a bowl and called it Lunch! Who knew!
First course scallops with "lemon caviar(french)" and each slice of scallop topped with celery root foam (again I'm in Heaven!) Then cod on top of yummy smashed potatoes and a watercress foam.
Coupes de Champagne and a lovely Mersault
Dessert a molten..very..chocolat cake. "Little cookies" avec cafe, caramels and mini financiers.
Liked the decor..modern black whites, silvers. Napkin "ring" matches the sculpture separating entry from dining room.
Food was equally wonderful in both..but for service and atmosphere I'd give the nod to FS!
