Hi all!!! The good news? I got an extra day and night in Paris! The bad news? I spent all day and night at CDG, getting no sleep after having 2 flights canceled due to the snow. At least they put "Red Cross" like cots down on the bottom floor of CDG for all us strandees. But it was a harrowing and stressful day. So, after they told me this am that I couldn't get a flight out until tomorrow, I got online, booked a hotel and jumped in a taxi and here we are! Horrible weather today, so I went to the movies while my daughter slept. Now out to dinner! More tales to come, but here (for those of you not on the addictive facebook) is the first installment of my blog. More to come, j'espere! Hoping for a bon voyage tomorrow; I have to work to afford all this! SisterE sisterofminehomeagain.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/paris-with-my-best-girl-exceeding-expectations/

Terrible to be stranded, and smart of you to book a hotel. I had better get on finishing my trip reports from last November! I'm feeling a tad guilty now that I see you've written already.

Yeah..be careful what you wish for...I've learned the hard way you must be VERY specific with the wish fairies! My sympathies...spent a night at Heathrow once after I missed my flight..my flight from Paris was delayed due to rain and a "runway incident" at heathrow...ahem. no cots! Hope you make it home safely w/o further incidents!

I was just wondering about you to Denise today, Sis. She said there was a mess at CDG. Glad to hear from you.
That night at the airport must have been bad. I'm guessing you didn't sleep much, if at all, huh? Which only makes things worse. Good that you gave up and booked a hotel. A girl can only take so much, right?
Hope you get home soon. Safe Travels!

Is it still a mess in Paris? Any on-scene reporting out there?

The snow is all gone from the city, a bit less in the suburbs.

Kerouac, I thought there was a lot of snow? How did it disappear so quickly? Did it warm up significantly?
I only ask because when I left Paris on Thursday, it was incredibly cold! And I'm from Boston, so when I say it was cold I know what I'm talkin' about. It was awful.
As for you, geordy....low blow, very low blow. I'm still in mourning.

It took just one day at 2° to make the snow disappear in the city, except from isolated grassy areas.
