I toured the gardens on Sunday. It feels special because you are on the grounds of the presidential palace, but the gardens themselves are similar to other parks. We arrived around 1pm, an hour after opening. Entry was at the Grill du coq, or Grill of the rooster. The line had already formed. We waited about 90 minutes to get in. I thought they were limiting the # of people allowed into the garden, but I don't think so. There was an xray machine and it just took some time to get people through. Once inside we were free to walk around. A fig tree The roses were still in bloom Lots of security - all in handsome uniforms. There was a special feeling about being on the grounds of the palace, but it's really just a garden - a very nice one - but I enjoy the public gardens just as much.

A 90-minute wait? That's too long......even for beautiful gardens !

ah, then it wasn't just me, Mossie -- although I thought of the painting of Gabrielle D'Estrees and one of her sisters....
