Yay! Scored two tickets to La Cenerentola at Palais Garnier on the first day of sales. Maxim Mironov singing Don Ramiro. He can sing like a pile of horse poopy (which he won't) as long as he just stands there and looks pretty!

He can sing like a pile of horse poopy (which he won't) as long as he just stands there and looks pretty! Good for you indeed! I remember before I had ever been to a performance there saying something at the ticket window to the effect that I would see a dog fight there just to be at a performance! (they were explaining that Giselle was sold out ....got tickets to another ballet..no dog fights! ) Guess we all have our prioirities! ;D

Good for you!
I took a tour the other day. A lady inquired in the gift shop about tickets for that night. The cashier encouraged her to try - you never know.
Enjoy the performance!

Today is the first day tickets have gone on sale. The only seats available are restricted sightlines, but these are quite good, with only 5-10% of stage right obscured. SO is a dentist, so maybe he can bring along a couple of those little angled mirrors....

Lucky you, Truffy! The Garnier is such a magnificent building. Loved our visit (self-tour) this past spring. Ooh..... the thought of getting all dressed up to attend a performance there......

I've not been to a performance there, either. La Cenerentola (especially the Munich production by Jean-Pierre Ponelle) is a perfect opera for that space--smallish, dazzling, period setting, etc. Can't wait! I'd love to see next year's Ring Cycle at Bastille, but don't think that's going to happen.

I always feel like Cinderella when I'm there! Well except the time(which some of you might recall ) detailed in a trip report here) we were in the hot, upper most , no leg(or anything else !)room seats for an Opera with no intermission! I thought the lady in the full kimona was going to internally combust! Every other time was fine..sometimes in the boxes in you are not front row you have to move about a bit but as long as the box mates are nice......it works!

Den and I were lucky enough to attend the Onegin ballet at Opera Garnier in May 2009 ~ it remains one of the highlights of our 8 trips to Paris. Enjoy!

T, you are going to love it. Duringnthe Entr'acte, make a bee line to the grand gallery over lookingnthe Avenue. To the far right is a champagne bar for season ticket holders, but they don't close it off until half way through the break. You are going to love the group that hangs out there... I'm in town if, you gentlemen are free for a meal...
