Shopping, browsing, eating...aka the rest of the week!
Breakfasts were at Paul's sitting out front(yes the weather was that nice), or cafes, one day we grabbed croissants while walking thru the setting up Marche des Enfants Rouge.
After the two big lunches...detailed.in the Restaurant section...a "regular" diner was out of the question! One nite was a cheese board at Jean Bert in the hood..thought we'd start with that and some red wine, Samur, and then see. It was huge served on a big board..several goat cheese discs, camembert, hard cheeses, bleu cheese, other stinky cheese, nuts, olives, salade, butter and good bread.13 E more than enough! Place is like an old fashioned tabac in front....folks lining up for their tobacco!
The other nite we wandered all over the Marais, stopping for wine, found ourselves walking down Rue Rosiers..now I've never had the famous falafel.I'm from NYC..we have great falafel why would I spend a meal in Paris on that?..Had a pita sandwich once from a stand watching big screen World Cup final at hotel de ville in '98.probably gyro or souvlaki...But what the heck not having a "real" meal anyway bought two and took back to hotel. Very good..intelligent construction...balls are smaller than here and the cabbage and other toppings already sauced.some fillings, balls, more filling, more balls, topped with eggplant.yum!
While wandering Montmarte area, needed to see Picasso's studio bldg ."Bateau Lavoir", found ourselves at lunch time near a place on "list" Le Petite Trianon", very cute piano bar,.lots of front window frontage so good for people watching..good croque madame on Polaine with salad.
Oh,there is a "Christ the Redeemer" statue in front of Notre Dame..(prompting me to remark "what's the Brazilian Jesus doing here?"
It is a big anniversary of the statute plus 2013 i Youth Year is in Rio.
Bought chocolats at La Mere de Famille and ate a few admiring St Catherine(patron saint of working women(girls!?))statue in Sq Monthalon.
The "How to Become Parisien in an Hour" show has moved to the Grand Blvds. are , Theatre Nouveautles on Blvd Poissoniere.
Another Cafe Gourmand this time with fresh strawberries and cream, little molten choc cake with chantilly, macarons.
Duck confit.
Also managed pistachio eclairs and choc tarts from local bakeries!
Lovely late nite walks around Pl. des Vosges,.... Chimneys, latches, night sky with clouds... view from out windows!
Next ..Heritage Day visit!
