It happened again! Lost the thread....so a truncated version it will be...
"Small ball" trip....no concerts, ballets, operas(not by design nothing on we wanted to see!), day trips(did that at the beginning with Brittany)..just walk bys (things read about in books, newsletters etc), shops, etc.
Tues heading for Merci on Blvd Beaumarchais....stop for PD at corner cafe on the BLVD..ordered two PDs...not crowded and took awhile arrives on a board, worth the wait! tartine perfectly toasted with butter pooling in all the nooks and crannies! Croissants, OJ, and cafe..my croiss got wrapped in a napkin and put in my bag! Merci not for moi.....good concept with part proceeds going to charity and supposedly earth friendly...but I guess I'm not trendy enough!
Raining.....duck into cafe for vin rose and tear apart and split croiss!.Looking for shop, N2, had checked out on a previous trip but it was a Sun so closed..open today!..asked about macaron jewelry pulled out drawer, one pendent but other "pastry" jewelry wound up getting two bar pins with dangling pastry, one for moi, one for sis for Xmas or B'day!
Last week on cross town bus I saw a woman taking her young son to school, she was wearing a large brooch with the face of the girl who is on N2's packaging(great packaging!) I asked if she got it here. she said , in a Brit accent, no in Europe! So I told her my tale and she said she had gotten her's at Galeries Lafayette...didn't know there was a store! Great line.other than desserts...there are ballet, circus, bicycle and other themes! In 3rd on Rue Montmorency.
Shopped and browsed in rain....Cavalier Bleu across from Pompedieu for shared chicken club and onion soup.
Had diner res at Palais Royale but not up for full course meal. Canceled and wandered Hood. Bouquet St Paul..Salade Nicoise which I could not finish. Sanccere. Another Cafe Gourmand...mini chocolat moussee, creme brulee, and brioche with whipped creme from can! Watched bar man assemble it..he was rather easy on the eyes... eye candy! But like decor of place better before last Winter's renovation.
Back to hotel..B'day Eve!
