Thanks to a tip from Oz ..(it was in the Dining Sec of the NYT the day before but I had not read it yet ) I found out a branch opened a few blocks from my apt.! Hadn't noticed the construction because the whole block has scaffolding! Stopped by yesterday after work..crowded, cases somewhat depleted..started off with a baguette and a pain au chocolat $6.00 :obut you get what you pay for I guess. Was going to save the pastry for pd this AM but decided a taste test is best conducted fresh and devoured it as soon as I got home! Heavenly though a bit flat..very humid in NYC ! Baguette just right! Had heel with a bit of seafood dip and then salad and cheese on another hunk for diner! The article said there was seating but didn't realize it is sit down place with wait people and serves lunch and dinner! No wine and beer and/or liquor lic. but that may be coming if it does well...salads, sandwiches, cheese and meat boards, a few pastas and cocottes! Will hold me over....24 sleeps!

A tip all the way from Oz! Wonder where it came from? I had a baguette with tomato and mozzarella the other day. It was ok, but just not as good as what you get in Paris. I'll have to try EK next time I'm in NYC.

A tip all the way from Oz! Wonder where it came from? Well, I am a whole 16 hours ahead of you. ;D Not that it does me much good. I read about it but do not get to experience it. Thanks for doing a reconnaissance mission for us, Geordy. Someone's got to be on the front line.

Oh Geordy, lucky you! I'd give anything to have a French bakery within a 20 minute drive of here. Alyssa is in Sarasota for her internship, and has one walking distance from her. She had the nerve to text pictures of her macarons yesterday Jody--Bruno moved to LA as in Los Angeles? Or Louisiana?
