Hello.
I am after any general tips/hints about Dijon including a nice place to eat lunch.
I am going to take advantage of the cheap train fares and book tickets for a day trip in late September. The earlier trains are cheaper, so I will arrive around 8.30am-ish and leave around 6/6.30pm-ish to be back in Paris for dinner.
I'll be there on a Wednesday. I know it's nto a market day but Tuesday is my only other choice and the arts museums are closed on this day. I am also not interested in taking time away from town to do a wine tour...but I am happy to drink it. ;D
I've done a search here on OPF but most Dijon entries talk about people enjoying their time but there's not a lot of detail.
Thanks, Mez,

The old city is a great place to walk around. There is some very interesting architecture to look at . Architecture and building styles that are varied so that each small area is different When you get off the train and go to the tourist bureau. When we were in Dijon in 2006 there were guides to what was known as the Owl Tour, a self paced walk. There are also many small cafes and restaurants that can be enjoyed for breaks and for lunch.
Any good on line guide book can indicate eating places and museum days and hours. Things change a lot in the food business in 6 years. If I have some time in the next week, I will look through our journal for names of places.
We really enjoyed the atmosphere in Dijon and did a lot of walking and gawking.

I'll check my journals but I was there quite some time ago...but it seems to be the type of place where a lot of the bistros, cafes remain the same over the years..I recall many terroir menus.

Stop at the tourist office and get a map and then do the Owl Trail, which is the tourist trail around town that will take you past all the noteworthy sites. I don't have any restaurant tips but have a look at the tourist office website for lists of restaurants and attractions in town: www.visitdijon.com/en/
