So Den and I have been talking since we got back from our wonderful trip with Seb last week (can't believe it's already been almost a week since we're back!). I've told him I can't wait a year to go back to Paris and I want to go for a week in January ~ he has no interest in going at that time but is encouraging me to go by myself.
I'll be looking for deals in the fall, but was just wondering ~ anyone planning to be there next January and what do you think your dates are going to be? Den is never one for GTGs since he doesn't really know anyone on the boards, but me ~ hey, I'm always up for one, lol
Oh, and we've pretty much decided on Provence and Paris for next fall ~ we will finally see another part of France! Let the planning begin! ;D

Good for you Jo, go for it. I may decide on a January trip, depends on the creaks and groans, but cannot decide until about October. Whoever turns up, and even if you are totally solo, I guarantee you will have a great time. Ask any of our other solos

Den is obviously a very understanding husband. God bless all husbands who encourage their wives to visit Paris!

I will be there for a week, already booked, 12th January to 19th January2013, with my friend Lizzie. So if you decide to go then you will not be lonely. I always chose this week every year, because it is the cheapest week in the year for accommodation. All the sales are on, Paris is wonderfully uncrowded and usually there are some good exhibitions on to shelter from the cold. Although I have always been lucky with the weather. Just wrap up warm with lots of layers and frequent stops for hot chocolate! Go for it JO! Love Denise

Thanks guys. Denise, cheap is good, lol. That's why I was thinking of January (ok, that and les soldes, but let's keep that little tidbit from Den, ok? ) As for layering, well, I am Canadian so boots and coats and hats and scarfs and mitts are just a part of who we are 6 months a year, lol. Sounds like I can't NOT go in January since I'm already so well prepared. ;D Mossie, I'll be looking for deals in the fall too. I noticed last year there were great airfare prices for January from Montreal, as well as packages that included hotel, transfers and breakfasts (like the one Den and I booked in late November 2010). I'd love to stay at the Abaca in the 15th again if I can get it for a good price ~ the metro station was half a block away, very convenient when it's cold outside and line 12 brought me pretty much everywhere I wanted to go. There were lots of little cafes, bakeries, cheese shops, even a weekly market and a large Monoprix in the area, so I'd like to explore this neighbourhood again if I could. Ah, the planning has indeed already started ~ it really is what keeps me going, lol Jo

Jo, I don't have any plans for January, but I say go for it for all the reasons Denise mentioned. I never feel lonely in Paris because I feel like I'm at home.

Amen Sister! ;D
I would love to go to Paris in January for the reasons you and Denise give. Won't be there in January but will be there in October 2013 and would be great to meet you if our dates are in sync.

Awesome!! Nothing like planning an unexpected trip to help ease the PPD I swore that I would try to cut back on the Paris travel next year...this year will be 3 trips! But...January IS a great time to be there...maybe I need to re-think things. We could have a grand time...

Uh uh Jo...you got me scheming! Next thing I know I'll be looking at apartments and airfares! And I have yet to plan the fall trip to Burgundy (with an obligatory visit to Paris). On the other hand, ain't nothing better for curing the PPD, which is severe... ;D

I have a deposit on an apt from Jan 8-Jan 17th. I have my airfare and am waiting till the economy tickets come down in price. I'm treating the teen amie, who isn't a teen any longer. This is a college graduation gift for her. I'm also bringing a friend of hers. Anyway, the economy tix are running around $1,100 for now...I have to believe they'll come down sometime in the late summer/early fall.
Come on ahead, Jo! You won't be lonely...

We are going Italy instead of Paris in October and I am so conflicted! Already planning a March visit to my home ground!!Around the middle of the month if anyone else will be there. Even with FF miles the taxes and fees are running about what I paid for tickets in the past!Flights into London are not booked yet but Flight fromLondon to Rome is set/
