Kind of a take it slow day..started again in the PD room..lovely and fattening!
Wanted to check out a shop in Montmartre(had other walk by/stop in such jaunts on list but they will have to wait for hopefully better weather in September! ) so headed up there misty rain, wandering and getting in hill and stair work!
Also came upon a restaurant i had on the list..Le Petite Trianon, 80 rue Rochechouart. Looks very cute but it was a bit early for lunch and nothing on the menu sang to me..at the mid point in the trip I've had some "musts" and am looking for a few more so if they aren't on the carte.......
Made our way to necessary stroll on the Champs Elysees. Somehow missed the Marks and Spencer I've since read opened there...we were mostly on the other, south side of Blvd. Nothing calling for lunch..thought just a simple sand wich, omelette, or assiette at Deauville usually dependable for that but didn't like the way they've configured their tables....more like a restaurant....Hello , you are a cafe on the CE , folks are not here for fine dining but to watch the world go by!
Went down a few side streets and then wound up at Cafe DE Alsace for......Champagne and oysters!!! Nice assortment from Brittany and Normandy. Followed by a plum ta rte with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and cafe. Good lunch!!
Made our way back to hotel thru the 6th in and out of shops!
Longer rest period and had a few ideas for diner..but was nastier out so wound up a block or so from hotel at Le Petite Perigourdine on Rue de Ecoles. Blackboard menu which had brandade! My choice. Out of it..so then had to re think wine choices as well but not hard as it is a wine bar!
Not overly hungry so, coupes of champ, split a salad and I had duck confit with roasted potatoes, onions, and mushrooms. Vin Rouge...can't recall what but waiter inserted what looked like a small , flexible CD as a pourer in bottle. As I was fascinated he gave me one!
For those interested...they also serve aligote! The potatoes, well and the wine..that was my choice until I had to switch to duck!
For Samedi tune in soon to the "Other Destinations" section!
Just looked at the pourer thingy..it has a US patent..called DropStop.
And the restaurant got the Coupe du meilleur Pot 2011....
