Today was centered around a lunch reservation and an evening show.
Breakfast again in PD room..meant to go lite..but the ham. cheeses and pain are so good...and then there is the pain au chocolat....
Walked to right bank..stopped at St. Germain Aux. church..remembered Tony Parker and Eva's wedding...long marriage by celeb standards these days!
To Montorgueil area and the Les Halles construction..if you are with an architect, engineer or anyone involved in the construction industry..do not go near there..had to drag him away!!!
Wandered in and out of shops...then stopped at L'Esplanade St. Eustache for an aperitif..kirs with a lovely bowl of peanuts. I cannot resist peanuts! Watch umbrellas go up and down...then sun for a brief moment!
Lunch at Comptoir de la Gastronomes on rue Montmartre in the 1st.
Charming little place connected to a shop selling the South Western specialty items they feature. Handsome young, English fluent host. Had my fav cassoulet..wonderful and not the usual too huge portion. Delicious Cahors wine. Finally got in dessert..chocolat mousse on a chocolate cracklin aka cookie with a demitasse of chocolat chaud. Perfect!
Walked back thru Courtyard of Lourve..sun came out so had to sit a bit!
Walk back to hotel thru St. Germain...fancy new front on Cafe Bonaparte but the crepe stand there is gone..guess too much business went to the one on St Germain?
A little Carrefours on St. Germain but like a Monop..or 7/11!
Evenings entertainment was "How To Become Parisian in One Hour".
Funny, guy is a rubber faced comic, but I felt with a few subtle changes could be "How To Become A Manhattanite In One Hour"
Had a good time..nice "downtown theatre' feel, bar area and can bring drinks in theatre.
Lasts a bit over an hour. Originally was thinking of revisiting the area afterwards..we had stayed not far away 9/2010..but it was close to 10:00PM rainy and cold so back to the 5th. Stopped at a cafe to split a tuna sandwich, salmon plate, and rose.
