OK fellow Parisphiles. Stella and I are getting down to the serious business of choosing restaurants for our impending trip. Only 47 days to go.(not that we are counting) and we should be making reservations now.Any good ideas for restos in the first? We will be living on Rue de Honore and need somewhere not too far away and certainly within staggering range of the Louvre. We are being very touristy and booking a dinner at the Eiffel Tower (not the Jules Verne) and the Moulin Rouge as this may well be our last trip to Paris as we still have lots of places we want to see before we are finished. You guys have been so nice and helpful and I prefer your views over Talbot and Lobrano. They are good but write with a professional eye rather than from a "lets go out for a good meal" sort of idea.

Ah ha! I thought your trip was coming up soon! We don't get over to the 1st in the evening much, but my first thought was La Régalade Saint-Honoré. We haven't been there yet, but I hear it's very good and it's worked it's way up near the top of my list, so maybe "next time" They have a 32€ prix fixe, Closed Sun & Mon. 123 Rue St Honoré, 75001; phone 01 42 21 92 40 Also high on my list but not yet visited (but many here on the forum recommend it!) is Restaurant de La Cordonnerie. Traditional French, emphasis on fresh market food, desserts are all house made. 20 Rue St Roch, 75001; 01 42 60 17 42 restaurantlacordonnerie.com Have fun planning, you two!

Only 46 now! I can vouch for La Cordonnerie. But do make a reservation or you won't get in.Not in the 1st but nearby and walkable we always stop in La Fregate up from the D'Orsay along the Quai.

Hey George,
I can second La Regalade St Honoure ~ we had a wonderful meal there in September 2010 ~ about a 100 euros with a nice bottle of wine, mineral water and coffees ~ even less if you don't have those extras. Tables are very close together, so be prepared to be social with your neighbours. Spring is very close to rue St Honoure, but you would have to reserve 1 month in advance of when you want to dine there ~ lunch is better value than dinner and it's a no choice menu, but the food ~ my god, the food! Very close by is a little wine bar that we've been meeting to get to and still haven't ~ Le Garde Robe on rue de L'arbre Sec. Could be nice for an easy meal of cheese, charcuterie and wine. Lastly, one of our favourite bistros is Au Vieux Comptoir, just on the other side of rue Rivoli and not far from La Tour St Jacques on tiny rue Lavendieres Ste Opportune. You can reserve this one a few days before you plan to eat there ~ lots of great wine by the glass and French classics. No set menu, all a la carte, and about 100 euros for a full meal with wine. All of these are on my blog, with more details than any normal person could possibly need or want, lol. Have a wonderful time in Paris ~ we have 100 days until we are there with our grandson!

I can suggest both Le Souffle and L'Ardoise both on little rue Mt. Thaber..should be close! Also not too far in the 9th..Au Petite Riche, 25 rue Le Peletier, had a wonderful meal there..after we found it..the Pope was in town..long story recounted here awhile back.....

Regarding Le Souffle (I really love those souffles! ), my son ordered a steak the second time he was there because the first time he saw a man at the next table eating a delicious-looking one. Anyway, according to my son, it was one of the best steaks he'd ever had.
