Saw this recently and really enjoyed! The lead French Actor is wonderful..an interview with him is in Jan's France Today. And for you doggie lovers..the dog..Uggie is the name in the credits..is magnificent!
Rest of the cast is mixed French, American, etc. Black and White and mostly silent(so the mixed cast doesn't matter! And the slides are in English)...won awards at Cannes and there is Oscar buzz!

thanks for the heads up about this movie - did you rent the movie or is a new one? I'll check Netflix and see if it's available. I know I will like it because of the doggie!

Just watched the trailer for "The Artist" - looks pretty good and I'll watch for it to hit the theater here!

I watched this on the flight home Monday--cute movie! I probably would have flipped right past it if I hadn't read Geordy's rec here.

Uggie, the dog from the film, is going to be on the Ellen Degeneres (USA talk show)show tomorrow..Wed. 1/18. The film won the award for best comedy/musical film at Sundays Golden Globe Awards(Hollywood Foreign Press Awards) and Jean Dejardins won best actor in the same category.. The dog was at the show..some said he should have got a supporting actor award as he did have a big, important part..and no one else , except for two words , with a French accent!, speaks either!!! When they were accepting the award for the film, Dejardin and Uggie were hamming it up..much like in the film!  |
