Thanks for the list. I like Pierre Hermé for more unconventional macarons ... but my absolutely favorite is the rose petal from Ladurée. I haven't tried any of the others on the list though ... must do when I'm in Paris next.

I'm surprised LeNotre fared so badly. But then I'm no fan of macarons, so what do I know?

I was surprised by the bad showing of Lenôtre also! And surprised by the favorable showings of McDonalds, Picard and the Alsa mix! I have brought a few of thees mixes (chocolate) home for my girls, and they loved them since they're too busy to make them from scratch.

Interesting list - I have tried macarons at most of the big well known shops and I must say that my personal favorites are the ones from Dalloyau!! I also like Carette's macarons and I noticed that their name wasn't even mentioned! Also interesting to see that Monoprix and Picard have frozen ones!!! I think there is a Picard close by to the studio I'm renting in November so will have to try it and of course must try the ones at McDoo!

I thought I read somewhere that the McD's Macarons were made by Laduree... Must investigate.

Wonder why they didn't include Mulot? ? When I do my test I'll be testing Pistache, Caramel, and Chocolat!

I love the sandwiches at Carette's but I've never had their macarons...they do serve great sables with after lunch/dinner cafe! I've only been to the one in the 16th ..not the Place des Vosges.

I can see that a serious taste testing will have to be done. We cannot just leave such an important matter to chance. A macaron mix? what a great idea for overseas travellers.
