As usual, Michael and I went to Paris for the first weekend of October so Michael could go to the races at Longchamps for the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe.
Normally,I like to post as I go along, to capture the feelings I have at the time. Unfortunately the wi-fi was patchy and I dropped my iphone and broke the display so no pictures and no notes.
Some of you may have seen my more detailed reports on TA. Sorry to be repetitive.
Paris was having an unexpected heatwave, so I had taken completely the wrong wardrobe and had to make do with two pairs of cotton cropped pants and two tee shirts I had thrown into my hand luggage at the last minute. The shops were full of furs, boots and knitwear, but we managed to buy some tops in C&A.
We stayed in Rue de Colonel Moll on the west side of the Arc de Triomphe. Mainly so Michael could be near the bus which took him to the races at Porte Maillot.
To my surprise I loved this area, on the border of the 16th and 17th The metro line one was handy. As it crosses every other line, we could get anywhere, or back home with a minimum of one change.
The Arc de Triomphe is always in view, the people are posh and the building are Art Nouveau. There are plenty of cafes restaurants shops and the wonderful street market Rue Poncelet nearby.
I had decided to make it my mission to explore the west of Paris, so I spent day one exploring the 17th, day two exploring the 16th. A day biking in the Bios de Boulogne. A day at St-Germain-En-Laye,
I planned a guided walk, sunset on the Arc de triomphe. A day meeting friends just chillin and another day for Michael to decide.
Unfortuatly the heat (35 degrees at times) severely restricted my wanderings as it was just too hot.
I got to Parc Monseau, Jean -Jaques Henners museum....loved the portraits, the fantastic rue de Levis street market, and the beautiful Batignolles square, the most romantic parc in Paris in my opinion.
Day two we visited the market at Auteill. Graet produce, We enjoyed the Marmotton museum and the adjacent parc. The upmarket village of Passy with it's own market street. Great for people watching.
Day three, was one of the highlights of my trip, biking around the Bois de Boulogne and lunch at the Chalet des Iles. A resaurant in the centre of the lake. Tea in George V listening to a fantastic piano and dinner in our local cafe ended a perfect day.
Day four was next highlight! a GTG with other OPF, Facebook and TA friends plus a stroll along the Siene and some shopping later.
Day five was a day trip to St-Germain-en-Laye, a bit if a disappointment, as we felt the town was nothing special. The market was interesting and we loved the Chateau gardens and panoramic view of Paris.
Day five was just spent wandering Paris, chillin, nice lunch and eating ice cream. We visited the Montorguiel area and St Eustche, and decided this is our favourite area of Paris.
So there we are. I never got to try the free Discover walks as it was just too hot, and we never got to watch the sunset from the top of the Arc de Triomphe because we were not back before nightfall...and I never got to eat in the resuarants nearby you kindly recomended, or found the Chinese pagoda.
Our best meal was at the Crabe Marteu, at the end of the street. An interesting crab restaurant, who do one thing and do it well I really enjoyed this meal and it was such fun and messy!

I always try to post about my adventures, just to give back a little for all the information I get from here and TA.
Thank you all for your help
