I think some of you have used VRBO in the past and we are looking at an apartment near the Louvre for 11 days in March thru April 4. I also seem to remember that one or more of you have stayed here. It is the apartment with the kitchen in the cupboard and is on Ste.Honore.
Any feedback on both Vrbo and this wee place will be most welcome.

Hi George, Can you please post the link to the apartment? I've only rented from VRBO once and we had a good experience. Our landlord was very responsive with e-mails and he gave us a generous discount because of renovations going on while we were there last fall. If the one you are looking at doesn't work out, you may want to try the little studio we just rented last week through Paris Best Lodge. Great location on rue Rivoli, almost right across from metro St Paul and a few blocks away from the Bastille station. You are in the middle of the Marais, so close to everything you could possibly need. And Stella would love the view from the apartment ~ the pompiers down below! The apartment was really well equipped with everything we needed and the bathroom was pretty roomy for Paris. www.parisbestlodge.com/rivoli.htmlGood luck in your hunt! Jo

Loved your studio and that neighborhood. Our garden apt is just up the street , directly across from the church and the verger, next to Vasselerie on 1 side and a laudromat on the other so I don't have o use those dinky French washers and almost dryers!

Jody, I can just imagine where you are. We were almost right across the street from Pizza Momo and the Church (and of course, those pompiers down below, lol)
We just love the Marais, everything is so close and convenient.

Well folks, we have booked our trip to Paris in March. After Stella spending all of last weekend with her face glued to her MacBook she eventually whittled down her choices to 6. By the time we e-mailed the agencies, two were booked up including Jo's place on Rivoli with it's hot and cold running Pompiers. Sorry Jo no salacious pics in March for you.Two more we discounted as we didn't really want to be in Montmartre in March. A combination of hail stones and slippery steep cobbled streets made it sound too dangerous for this old fogey with his stainless steel hip.
That left two, one of which didn't reply to our e-mail which left the one. Of course it was the very first one we looked at but we had loads of fun dreaming and making lists. So, on March 24 2012 we should be taking the Eurostar to Paris as long as there isn't the wrong sort of snow on the line and cabbing it down to the Louvre. The agency is VRBO which seems respectable and trustworthy and the apt is 31360.

Ah, the excitement of finally booking the apartment! It makes the trip seem so real. Congrats!
Jo
(I'd love to see which one you picked ~ what's the VRBO #)

That's wonderful George! Maybe late March will be more Springlike! Or not...... And April in Paris! I'd love a picture of the kitchen in a cupboard!

I'm the one who rented this apt, in 2006 I think. I really liked it but just be aware that there is about 15 inches of space, maximum, between the foot of the bed and the wall/closet and about two feet of space, maximum, between the side of the bed and the wall. I was on a solo trip so it worked well for me.
Enjoy!

Thanks Darcy. We saw your name amongst the reports of the apartment and therefore knew that one of the OP crew had stayed there. The place is tiny but I am sure that we will fit in maybe with a lot of cursing and toe banging but it will be our toes being banged in Paris and not in Ontario so we will thole the pain, have another swig of wine and maybe a mararon or two.
