Otther than meeting up with you are ther things for tourists to do and can we do them without a car? I fear my DH's driving in the UK anymore, France is okay but his reflexes are not what they were for left side driving ..or is it right side??? Last March I spent a day in Manchester with a tourist eye and posted my pictures on FB. I will try to find them. I was very impressed as a "tourist" and had a really nice day. Sometimes you live in a place and never visit the attractions! Manchester has a rich cultural heritage from the 19th century and has the biggest university in Europe. The centre was also practicably rebuilt after the IRA bombing in the 1990's and the commonwealth games a few years later. I personally think they have done a good job of combining modern architecture and preserving the lovely old buildings. You can visit the city centre of Manchester and you can get there by train from London. If you book early enough the ticket prices are not too bad. 12 weeks before. You can also catch the steam train, a working line, run by volunteers up the beautiful Rossendale valley to visit lovely Lancashire villages. Would be glad to meet you. Love Denise.

Thanks Denise, it looks really lovely on the TV series. Not this trip but we have another almost month long trip planned for March so will dio it then! BTW the train journey London to Manchester is 2hr 10mins. Forgot to say, I really like the series Blue Murder. Again I am amazed that you get British TV series in the US. As if you didn't have enough of your own. Of course Blue murder is quality. Funny that I never really noticed that it was local. I will take more notice in future. At the moment our favourite is "spiral" a French TV detective series in the genre of "nordic noir" set in Paris. The locations are wonderful for somebody with PPD, In French with English subtitles. BBC 4 Saturday 9pm Mossie! or other British members. Denise Love from England

The actors are well known British actors who have been on TV since they were all young so it is great. Denise love from England

I was in Manchester briefly in May for a meeting. I took a walk one evening and really enjoyed it. I thought to myself I'd like to come back when I have time to see the city. Here's a picture of City Hall.
