SInce sometime Sunday(hummm...after the hurricane...but I never lost power!) the little "right click" drop down menus keep popping up all over the screen. ..w/o right clicking! In order to type you have to click somewhere else but then another one pops up there!
Typing this at work because I couldn't at home!
Any ideas...I tried to restor it to an earlier dat...and it took forever to get to that point with all the menus popping up...but it said it couldn't do the restoration because nothing had changed!
Any ideas? HELP!

A blind guess, but is there a problem with your mouse? Try another one, beg borrow or steal, as we say. Otherwise, have you been visiting sites that perhaps you shouldn't and picked up something nasty

Geordy, there could be something in the buttons (crumb, bug carcass, a stray drop of something sticky, etc.,) on your laptop that is making the right-click stick, too.
If you've run all the virus scans, etc., then unfortunately it may be a hardware issue.

Geordy, another possibility is that one of your programs downloaded an update that is incompatible with something, so not necessarily a virus. Try a Google search and you might find an answer. Something similar happened to me and I Googled and found a thread on some obscure techie website that told me how to fix it pretty easily.

Woman we have to meet one of these days!! I did think the right click button could be stuck but as it is a laptop both are a pretty tight fit and look exactly the same. Do you recall the geek site Annette? I've been Goggling but not coming up with anything useful! And I leave a week from today!!!! Plus NJ over the weekend so.....

that's how the term "a bug in the computer" was originally coined -- one of the big IBMs kept acting up, and they finally traced it to a moth deep in the belly of the thing -- it had landed in just the right spot to make a contact between two connections that weren't supposed to be connected.

Geordy, I'm pretty sure it was this one (or one very similar!?!) www.tomshardware.com/forum/Maybe you can post a question if you don't find the answer on there somewhere.

Thanks Annette...I did find a few google sites...it seems it is a lap top problem and the fixes seem rather complicated..other than the guy who suggested slapping it...but it was his friend's backup computer. SO much for trip reports if this doesn't clear up......
