So we shifted our trip to Dinard for two nights instead of the original trip around Brittany. We found a hotel that had a room with a view of the sea for a reasonable amount. We plan on going to Mont Saint-Michel to one day or on the way back to Paris. Is there any restaurants or things to see and do in Dinard?

64 views and no suggestions. Should we not go to Dinard? I know its not the best place in the world but the wife for whatever reason wants to head over there.

Dinard is supposed to be a posh (read old money, no bling-bling) family resort with lovely turn-of-the-century villas. It depends what you're looking for really, my guess is that there it's not very animated out of the school vacations, but then I've never been there either.

We haven't been to Dinard, but I've heard it's really lovely. We did spend an afternoon in Dinan, which is amazing, and would be a worthy stop as well. Here's the link to the office of tourism: www.ot-dinard.com/index.phpMussels are in season right now -- can't go too wrong with that!

My wife is funny. I think she saw a pic of the place in a tourist book and decided thats where she wanted to go. Mussels being in season is enough to make me happy. Ill post something when I get back.

Both Dinard and Dinan are on our list. I'm not sure 9 days in Normandy and Brittany will be enough. The list gets longer daily. Guess we can relax in Paris. LOL. I love to meander through interesting streets with attractive architecture, cafes and shops. Interspersed will be some museums, Carnac, and the Normandy Beaches. But also want time to just sit and watch people, eat great , fresh food and enjoy new places. The Mont is close to Vergoncey where we will be staying and we will go when the tour buses clear out.
I think your wife has good instincts.

I think the goal is to get out of paris for a couple days and enjoy some time relaxing. We found a hotel with a sea view room for a reasonable price. People watching and seafood will be on the top of my list. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

Since you will be there before we will I'll look forward to your reviews of seafood restaurants. Have a restful time.

I've actually been there! Well, 10 years ago when I was an exchange student for a month in high school . I stayed in St. Malo for a couple days and took a day trip over to Dinard. Dinard has a ritzy beach with excellent shopping in downtown. It can serve as a very comfortable home base to visit some nearby sites (St. Malo, Mont St Michel). The mussels are AMAZING. You may also want to check out nearby Cancale -- the oyster capital of the region. Cancale is more of a fishing village with a bunch of seafood restaurants.
