Can't say which location I like best. Our apt is near Metro St Paul and we love the area. We have stayed twice in a hotel near the apt in the 5th and really liked that neighborhood too. It is very near several metro stops and lots of bus lines.
European sofa beds are a lot more comfortable than the ones we have in the US. Our apt , while it does have a bedroom also has a sofa bed and I actually found it more cofortable than the bed when I napped on it one afternoon!
The one apt looks more appealing while the other is a bit spare but hey it's in Paris!! 100 Euro is about $142.00 /night have you looked at Vacation in Paris? It is a bit late though

We looked at VIP. Most things were booked. I know we are late to the party.
Good to hear about the sofa bed. Neither of these places has AC is that a problem in the first part of Sept? As long as things cool off in the evening I feel like I will be ok.

At this point we are leaning toward #2. I think we need to book soon as things are filing up.

I like the second apartment better although I am also wary of a sofa bed. My concern with the first one is the proximity to the metro. While you want to be close, I am not sure being on top or right next to it would be desirable.'Even with the lateness, take a look at perfectlyparis.com
They post their calendars and give much more detailed descriptions and they are wonderful. I believe one of our members just had to postpone so you may find some openings. Having a supportive agency can be helpful and Gail is wonderful.
If there are enough windows you may be OK. But that is also a factor in not wanting to be where there is a lot of noise.

Both apts look good and both are in good locations. According to the sites there is a price difference of E150 per week. I'd take the less expensive apt and spend the E150 on food! ;D
You might want to ask if the windows are double glazed as that will make such a difference in the noise level.
As to the weather, I've been in Paris for the first two weeks of Sept when the day time temp was never below 90° and I've also been there in Sept when the day time temp averaged 68°. There is no guessing what the temp will be in Paris but if the current weather is any indication (and it isn't), it will be cool rather than warm. This has been a very chilly summer which is too bad for the people who want to enjoy the Paris Plage.
Hey, I'm at one month, one week, one day!! YEA!!

I'm with Darcy about saving the 150 for food ;D - that is a WHOLE lot of Macarons! The second one looks good and I am going to book mark it for our next trip. Enjoy your trip - it sounds fun with the bike riding too.

Offically booked #2. The owners/rental people seem really nice and helpful. Now we start booking the fun stuff like dinners and things to do. My wife (Rome) and I (London) both studied abbroad 6-7 years ago so we are looking forward to a trip where we dont have much planned and spend our days like the locals. Lots of cafes, wine, people watching, and hanging out. Thanks guys for the help.

Be sure to let us know how it turns out Mhenry. I find the reviews for apartments posted here on the forum really helpful mainly because I trust and appreciate the OPFers' Paris-crazed perspectives

and mhenry, this time you won't be on a student budget! Please let us know about the apt. and the cafes. A friend on mine and also Darcy is an American tour guide in Paris and he just posted a review of a cafe that I've definitely put on my list . Le Nemours near the Palais Royal metro stop. Looks great!
And another that is near your apt, I think, Bistro de Gastronomes is getting excellent reviews. On Rue Cardinal Le Moine
