Congratulations indeed! What a great job, he rode a perfect tour and it was a pleasure to watch him work. I must admit, seeing him tear up on the podium was so endearing. Is it true Mez that there has been a "request" to the government for a national holiday in Australia? Sounds like something the kind of thing we would ask for here in Canada ;D

We will do anything for a public holiday. Although I doubt we will be successful. I thought he did such a great job and did think he would not get there even though I think he more than deserves it. I did not know until the later interviews that his old and long-time coach died in December. Such a shame!

Yes - congratulations! And I hope you get the public holiday.
Geordy - it's on live here on the Versus channel. I just get the basic cable package with Time Warner.
I was in Paris one of the years Greg LeMond won. Saw him cross the finish line - very exciting. It was a strange experience to hear the Star Spangled Banner playing on the Champs Elysees.

It was a great victory, but I am still waiting for the triumph of the Schleck brothers (hopefully Andy).

Geordy - and I thought I was the last person to get cable! I need it here in upstate NY so I can watch my favorite baseball teams...
kerouac - here's to next year for the Schleck brothers. My grandmother was born in Luxembourg and lived there till she was 18.

Andy has his age (26) on his side and he will definitely be wearing that yellow jersey on day 21 in no time. And France must be so proud of Voeckler - he was absolutely fantastic! What a fighter.

I'm impressed that all of you know so much about the race...way more than I do, and I was there!! It was a fun atmosphere, but we probably won't do it again. I don't even think Darryl would do it again, and he's a pretty avid fan!
