Has anyone seen reviews for the restaurant that just opened inside Opera Garnier? It was to open June 27, with the public opening July 1. The chef has a Michelin star (or 2?), and lunch is supposed to be around 40€. As the girls and I will be there around lunchtime next week, I thought it might be a fun place to have lunch! All I've seen so far is the press leading up to the opening, nothing since it has opened

Annette, you can be our reviewer! Let us know all about it so Den and I can go in October.
Oh, you will have such a great trip!

The concession is being run by the Freres Blanc. They own Chez Clement and a few other chains; I am not holding my breath, but would love to be pleasantly surprised. Other great places for lunch in that area wld Depardieu's La Fontaine Gaillon or the roof top of the Galeries Lafayette.

That's a bit disappointing to hear! We will be at Galeries Lafayette for the fashion show before heading over to the Opera, so maybe we'll just stay there to eat. Thanks!

I just got this in an update from the Opera :
"Au Palais Garnier, le nouveau restaurant est ouvert à tous en journée et en soirée. Choix à la carte ou menus conçus par le chef étoilé Christophe Aribert. Assiettes pour un service rapide à l’entracte ou dîner après le spectacle. Service voiturier. Entrée directe par le théâtre ou par la place Jacques Rouché (contourner le Palais Garnier par la droite). Réservation conseillée au 01 42 68 86 80."
Does "un service rapide à l’entracte " mean you can have a meal during a performance, with the different courses during the intervals, like at the Royal Opera House? We did that once and it was great fun.

Well, we tried. We were out shopping at Galeries Lafayette on a Sunday and it was one of the few options. Its a fun, rather bizarre decor and the food was much better than I'd expected it to be. The menu was designed for cost effectiveness and quick serrvice to large crowds, but it was inventive and seasonal. I don't think I head back for a dinner, but drinks at their Martini Bar wld be quite chic, and lunch on the terrasse may be nice, if the cars aren't too much of a bother.

Shopping at GL on a Sunday? do tell.... Is the Martini Bar separate from the restaurant? What did you eat? I'm trying to picture where the terrasse is....have to head to a website!

Thanks for the report, Phread! What I could see of the decor from passing by did look a little wild. Good to hear the food is decent, too.

Twice a year the large department stores are allowed to have promotion weeks, which are not technically "sales" and the cith gives them the Sunday to open. I needed a blazer. I got a blazer, but by the time you've seen a gazillion of them your head starts to spin, so I got something I though was blue, but turned out to be grey and had to be returned.
The terasse is stage left, behind the bldg, next to the gift shop, which has a gorgeous, but expensive collection of quality souvenirs.
The bar is in the restaurant, rez de chaussez, towards the back.
As for what I ate. The food was good, not great, so I don't remember.... sorry!

Ah ha!
Too bad about the blazer.
Sounds like a must see..and perhaps a coupe!
Or the terrasse as an alternative to Cafe de Paix in nice weather for a pre-performance drink!
