Darn I just typed a long reply and it disappeared!
Well again, welcome to OPF. I like the look of the apt but I am not particularly fond of the area. A bit sterile and not much nightlife after the shoppers clear out! Have you looked at Vacation in Paris or Guest apartments. I much prefer the 4th thru 7th area. Lots of activity, shops, bistros and services.
Our annette has a beautiful apt. in a great area but it looks to be fully booked for the rest of the year. And it is a 1 bedroom with sleeping for 2 more on a pullout sofa in the living area.
Good luck in finding something. Look at apts on the I'les! Good area, quiet at night but lots of services and good transport nearby.
There is a thread on the apartments we have stayed in. Look under apartments

Yes, you would probably be happier in the arrondisements Jody mentioned. I would recommend finding a place as close to the Seine as you can afford, and as close to a metro station as possible. Then take a look at the neighborhood with the street view option on Google Maps to see what is located around you. (Thanks for the plug, Jody Yes, we're getting booked up--there are only 2 weeks open between now and November!)

I always think that Parisattitude is very expensive because of the agency fees. Often you can get the same apartment cheaper on another site if you just google the address or details. This is what we did with this apartment. Which is the only two bed we have used. www.hotels-paris-rive-gauche.com/Luxury-apartment-to-rent-in-the.htmlWe loved this apartment. It was in a great area, just near Rue Mouffetard and rue Pot de Feu, full of cafes and shops etc. But I have reviewed in in the threads mentioned above. It was too big for us, so we have never had a two bed since. Good luck with you search. Denise love from England

Finding a two bedroom for $150.00 per night will not be easy. We just returned from Paris. We stayed in a two bedroom for that price. However, it was in St mande which is bit out there.

The apt you listed in the original post is 220.00 a night PLUS agency fees. This one is just a timy bit less and no agency fees and a great area. They also have a 1 bedroom that sleeps 5 www.vacationinparis.com/apts/id_18.htm

Jody, that is a nice apartment in a good location. I'm not sure if I'd be willing to face 3 flights of stairs though.

Me either Suzanne but I am OLD! I loved that area . Our Apt was just down the street from this one. 2 wine shops, a verger, 2 patisseries, a cheese shop and a supermarket right across the strret and buses right outside the front door. Some good little bistros too.Bank and Laundry right next door and a taxi stand for whe I'm tired.

???I am tentatively starting to look for an apartment for October for myself and Michael..
Trouble is, lurking in the back of my mind is always the thought that I could find the PERFECT one bedroom apartment, ie. new, modern, luxurious, kingsize, bed, dishwasher, washer, wonderful view, on a market street with metro line one on the doorstep. at a knock down price (like 55 euros per night!) so I drive myself mad keep looking.
Does anyone know of such a place?

Don't know definite dates yet but the first weekend in October is the big horse race at Longchamps, so usually Michael wants to see that. We may just be there at the same time. And we'll be there from the 23rd of September till we fly back on the 6th of October so we also will overlap for a few days. Maybe we can have a mini get together. We're staying in the 9th again.

Denise - you could find that in Paris, Kentucky!!
Aziat - I stayed in the 17th for a month last summer at well within your budget, but if you want action, that area is definitely out. Have you tried VRBO? I remember seeing some really good spots there and you can customize your search.
Good luck!!

Although we stayed last time for a month a bit farther "out" from the Seine than your identified apartment would be (just above Place de Clichy) and loved it, it was our fifth time in Paris and we had stayed in more touristy areas before. I agree with others that you should target a closer-in arrondissement: perhaps 4th, 6th, 5th.
With the euro standing near $1.48, you might do well concerning cost to rent from a US-based owner who will accept payment in dollars. That would most likely mean not going directly through an agency, and others who regularly post here might be able to suggest specific apartments or sources that would meet your needs.
Using buses or the Metro you can get from here to there very easily and quickly, so location is most important if you plan to spend evenings near your home base.
