La Tour Montlhéry/Chez Denise 5 rue des Prouvaires Paris 75001 Métro: Châtelet/Les-Halles 01.42.36.21.82.
One of the few authentic old bistrots left in the Les Halles district, serving generous portions of traditional bistrot food, open until 5 am, but closed Sat and Sun.
The words "authentic old bistrot" and "traditional food" caught my eye. Has anyone here eaten there?
Thanks,

I really wanted to go there after seeing it on Anthony Bourdain's show several years ago, but we read the menu one day and it didn't excite Darryl, so I was out of luck. I'd like to know what people think about it too.

I absolutey enjoyed that place. The tables are all touching so everyone is friendly. I was seated between two couples, one from Paris, the other from Normandy. The couple from Normandy had a son who worked there and he was our waiter. We all had fun talking with eachother. We were there over three hours. Go hungry, the servings are generous.

I loved it. The put a touch of something in the boeuf bourgignon that made the whole dish zing. In a good way.

Another one added to our list. Please stop now as I can't afford to have all my clothes let out at least twice before we leave Paris.

Chez Denise is definitely worth being on the list! Get the Baba Rhum for dessert...

I ate there with a friend last May. We got lost (I can't believe it now), and were 1/2 hr late. Our reservation was given away, but as we were wandering back up the street, the waiter came after us and said there would be a table in a few minutes. I couldn't believe that either, so nice! We had a good meal, not great, but the atmosphere was fun and the people quite kind. We were flanked by tourists but I did see some locals, also.
