Hi all! Any tips for how much to budget for a studio or 1 bedroom for two weeks (US$ or Euro)? Planning my next trip, hoping for this fall but we'll see Ideally, I'd love to stay in the 4th/Marais or within walking distance, but I realize that's really expensive! -Matt

Great minds and all that......? edit: I'm keeping that thread for the 'someday' when I can spend a month, or more, in Paris.

I loved both apts I rented from Vacation in Paris. The one in the Marais across from St Louis St Paul cathedral suited us tot T. I have it rented again in the fall. The one off Place St Michel was also nice, but my very tall husband kept bumping his head on the rafters in the bedroom. Loved having 2 toilets, as I could get up really early and get ready to hit the streets while he was still sleeping. There are links to oth on the Apts thread posted above.
I like VIP as there is no security deposit, you buy an in expensive insurance policy against breakage.

Matt, you could find a place in the Marais for 800-1,100 Euros for the 2 weeks. If you check my thread mentioned above, (Anyport-Jazz) you will find quite a few. Without doubt, you could do better (cheaper) in the double digit arrondissements and they are very accessible to central Paris, with Metro and walking. Ie: the 10th , 11th and 12th are close to the Marais and less expensive. The 19th and 20th, not as close, cheaper still and very accessible. I will say that Lodgis seems to be sometimes great, sometimes bad, but the rates are excellent. So, be careful. With Lodgis (in the Marais)I like, sublet.lodgis.com/en/paris/description/10410460-rue-de-birague-apartment/www.centreparis.com has some excellent prices and they seem to be open to deals. Another OP member, Denise, has often stayed in them and it’s a good idea to check her apartment reviews and trip reports, often with great photos. Superb. Homeaway is also good, www.homeaway.com/search/keywords:paris+franceJust search ALL of the sites in the thread linked in #2. I also like the the thread in #1. September and October are still considered ‘high season’, but you can find good deals. Most important is to take the time to look. November, you will do better and it is not that cold. I’ll be going for the month of October and will be staying in the 10th and 12th arrondissements in 2 apartments. Thank you FMT and Darcy for suggesting my thread, although I am not jazzcat, I am Jazz. The thread is definitely for ‘budget apartments’ and for beginners. People seem to be very overwhelmed (as I was, 10 years ago) and the thread was meant to help a bit. Many members here are totally aware and don’t need this information. This forum helped me so much in forming my apartment thoughts and I have read each of your apartment threads. Thank you!
