PS the interesting thing is I was trying to order a different book by the same title..different author at the libes and got this one! Also in the book.."All you creative types have a sense of sexuality that is a bit decale.(with accents!) How do you say it in English?" " You don't, Monsieur le Medecin. The concept does not exist in the Anglo-Saxon world." Explanation?

I don't understand your question Geordy. Are you asking how "décalé" translates in English ??

Well, décalé means different, out of phase with most other people, but still following a rather coherent pattern. For example you will talk about un humour décalé which means a peculiar type of humour. Or a clothing style décalé will be a bit excentric, not the mainstream style, like someone who would only dress in the X0s' style, or only dress kitsch, or ... I've never heard/read this word being used in the sexuality context, but you get the idea although there is no way of knowing in which way it is décalé.

Thanks Anne...all I can say is the "creative type" character is a man iin his 70's who was all of a sudden getting very aroused by bronzes and orchids...after rather a drought so to speak....off course there is also a much younger woman involved......

Mmmm, bronzes and orchids ... I would say that "décalé" is a bit of an understatement here ;D ! Can you believe the kind of discussion that we are having in a thread supposedly dedicated to cheese ...
