I imagine I'll add more as the month goes on... no idea if that particular link updates though!
It's easy to make maps.. time consuming but easy!

I've invested in an iPhone since my last trip to Europe and I will be using that to access all of my Google Maps using the MyMaps app. Google Maps are addictive but yes, they do take time. I've even allocated different icons on mine...a croissant for bakeries, a slice of cake for patisseries...you know - the important stuff.

Dear Mez and any other iphone users..Unfortunatly I cannot use google maps on my iphone in Paris because of the charges .On my most recent Paris trip I discovered metrO a really great app for getting around metro and buses. Especially buses and you don't need to be online so not incurring expensive charges. Another really great app is the TIME OUT guideThis lists cafes resturants and attractions and gives you a map for each of them to follow which tracks you with a blue dot. All also done off line. On your normal PC, you create as many Google Maps as you like. Download the My Maps app onto your iPhone. You then link the two together and access the Google maps you created on your PC via your phone. The My Maps app has nothing to do with the standard Google Maps icon on your phone. It sounds complicated but it's not. I've already got MetrO on my phone plus a number of other apps. I just need to get to Paris!!

I don't have an iPhone but tomorrow I am buying an iPAD!!
I will try to figure out what you are saying when I get it. Now, I do have a Touch which is an iPhone without the phone/no 3G. It has wifi etc.

I just looked up the My Maps app to see if there's an iPad version, and unfortunately there isn't . But I did find this, Denise--"My Maps now lets you download map titles so you can view your maps while offline or traveling internationally! Downloading titles is seamless and FREE!!" (not a free app tho--it's $1.99). It does sound like a good app for you iPhone users. Thanks Mez--I'll have hubby download it.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is not completely savvy about this. I do have an iPhone and a Paris metro app but I'm not sure I know how to use it. You can be sure I'll be coming back and rereading this thread, trying to understand it.

:)Well I am not the most technologically savvy person in the world. (Even the above about My Maps sounds complicated!)
When I first got my iphone I was ready to send it back because when people tried to tell me how to use it, it all sounded like Greek to me also. Then I my 8 year old grandson explained in the language of an 8 year old and voila! suddenly I understood.
Now I think it is the best thing ever. If you can use a computer, you can use an iphone....you just need to get a child to explain it!
...and once you have got one you wonder how you ever managed without.

a friend of mine recently got an iPhone to replace the Blackberry that had died a slow, painful death.
She told me last night that now she knows how the guy having a midlife crisis feels when he's replaced his faithful, loving wife for a flashy-looking secretary -- she fell for this sleek, sexy, fun-to-touch new model, only to find out that it can't type, doesn't remember any of her appointments, and can't carry on a conversation...and she wants to go back and plead her Blackberry to please take her back.
I couldn't stop laughing.

If you guys only saw my cellphone....... I'm probably the only one who still uses such an old model, but you know what......I still like it , and truthfully speaking, I think it would take me a year and a day to figure how how to use an iPhone or a Blackberry.

I loved that story sunshine! I have an IPOD, a Blackberry that I use for email and an old fashioned cell phone. Everyone thinks I'm crazy...but it works for me. ;D

I updated it. If someone looks, would you tell me if you see various colored balloons and pins and now some descriptions? if so, the link I made does not need to be updated, it updates as I go.

Yes, I can see all the changes. If you want to get creative, here's one of my maps I have been working on. It's the start of my compilation of notes. I haven't eaten at any of these places, so no personal recommendations. See tinyurl.com/Mez-Paris-Eat-Drink-Map
