Hi, Would love to go to Paris in 2 months time with my wife, so was going through some of the hotels at best-paris-hotels.blogspot.com/ and narrowed down my choices to 3. I would love to be somewhere near the vicinity of the Louvre, as my wife loves art pieces, as well as the Arc de Triomphe & Eiffel Tower. Between the George V, Plaza Athenee and the Crillon, which would be the best? As i like all three of them, the proximity of the hotel to these places, would affect my final decision. Price is not a problem, as I would like to get the best experience possible. Thanks

First of all, I'd like to say "Welcome to the forum!" Second, I must say that your dilemma is the most enviable one I can think of. If I were given that choice, I personally would be so ecstatic that I wouldn't be able to decide. ;D The Crillon is closest to the Louvre, while George V is closest to the Arc de Triomphe.

:)Welcome from me also.
I have only taken tea in these places, but would love to stay.
The Crillion is on the Place de la Concorde, so more central and nearer the Louvre, but for superiority of service you cannot beat George V,
If I won the lottery George V is where I would hide out!

Yes quite the dilemma What Showsy said about the locations,,with the PA being inbetween the 2! Been to all three for lunch, drinks, tea,,,,,but never stayed either. Don't think you can go wrong!! See who has a room with the best views of the desired monuments!

The Crillon is the oldest of the three and has a fascinating history. It is what I consider "old Money" as opposed to "New Money." If I could afford it that is the one I would pick. I also like the location and size. My next choice would be the Ritz since I love the one in London.
But you probably can't go wrong with any of them.

Yes, the Crillon was the Third Reich's headquarters during WWII. There are still bullet marks in the exterior. The concierge will show you if you ask him nicely. If you stay at the Plaza Athenée, when you step outside, you'll be in the middle of all the couture houses on the Ave. Montaigne. The window shopping is amazing! Sorry I can't be more help...God knows I wish I'd stayed in all of them and could offer an opinion

Hi, I am planning a trip to Paris and have been looking at different hotels in Monparnasse, the Bastille and Porte Maillot. I wasn´t really considering the area around the Louvre since it seemed like it was out of my price range. After reading this thread I did some research based on those close to subway stations in the different areas. What I came up with is that TimHotel Le Louvre is pretty reasonable comparitively and its close to a subway stop. Im still looking at other Louvre Hotels that don´t break the travel fund so if anyone knows of anything that´s worth checking out, let me know! www.subwayhotels.com/Paris/Palais-Royal-Musee-du-Louvre-hotels-723.html

However I use apartments these days. The rooms at the Montpensier were a bit bigger than usual Paris hotel rooms which tend to be tiny, www.hotelmontpensierparis.com/langues/FrenchHotel-English/pages/?lang=GBAs the article says this is the centre of the map and handy for line one which will take you to most of the major tourist sites without a lot of figuring out of the transport system. Nice to see you. Hope this helps. Denise Love from England

I've stayed at several hotels in the Louvre area. The du Danube, Millesime, d'Angleterre, des Marroniers and have looked at Deux Continents. I would stay at any of them again. They do vary in price and it's hard to recommend without knowing your budget.
A friend stayed at and loved the Britainnique. I think that is where Shoesy stays.

When we stayed in hotels, we stayed at and adored Relais du Louvre. Extremely well run and well located for walking and transit. Now we prefer apartments as we are staying in Paris longer.

Not from personal experience, but from an imprint on my brain:
