Since this question comes up rather often and since we all have agreed that besides steak frites there is no typical parisian menu, I thought you might want to get my address for real french food, real in the way of traditional, heavy but great. It's called l'Auberge Bressane on Avenue de la Motte Picquet in the 7th (where else...) the metro is Latour Maubourg on line n°8 It is rather expensive (50€ pp) but the service was great and they have a very nice wine selection. DO NOT GO THERE WHEN IT'S 100°F OUTSIDE!!

I replied "elsewhere" to a question about traditional French food and suggested Allard. Someone else suggested "Sushi"!
I take it this will be more in the "Allard" mould!
