Pretty much everything is closed in my province today. The twins' lycée fait le pont tomorrow, and so does eldest daughter's university in Paris

Is it a holiday due to the ending of WW1 or due to Saint Martin de Tours ?

WW1 Armistice signed 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th Month..thus while in the US it is now meant to honor all Vets and current military personnel..they can get a free bloomin onion at the Outback(Hi Mr Shoesy & son! ;D)and other such plus lots of sales ..it like 4th of July(well and Christmas and New Year's ) is not moved to the nearest Mon or Fri. but celebrated on the actual day. A parade here on 5th Avenue and in Paris on Champs Elysees(of course! I've been a couple of times) starting at 11:00am.

I showed the ultimate test of a mother's love and devotion in France -- I braved the Auchan in the afternoon of a holiday to buy some chicken soup for an ailing tummy.
Aaaargh.
