As promised in another thread, here were my thoughts on Le Dürer when I was there last fall. I will go back this year.
Le Dürer Restaurant, 19, rue Yvonne-le-Tac, in Montmartre (18eme), just 200m from the bottom of the finiculaire.
They had three prix fixe menus at 15, 21 and 29 euros. We chose the 29 euros menu because it came with a kir royale before dinner and salad and cheese before dessert. The entrees and plats choices were very similar on the 21 euro menu (about 8 choices each), but we opted for the extras.
After we placed our order, we were treated to a small offering of mixed snackables, almost like chex mix. That was followed immediately by the kir royales.
I started with the Moules Farcies, which were excellent. 10 of them, cooked perfectly. Just crispy enough without being overcooked. My dining mate had escargots (12 of them...not the skimpy 6 that most places serve), and she loved them. Then I had the Magret de Canard, which was offered with a choice of Roquefort or Poivre, and I opted for the Poivre. Friend ordered the Grilled Salmon with Bearnaise. Both were served with thick sliced potatoes that were fried like potato chips. I ordered my duck rosé, but it came out a little too done for me....but it was still excellent. The sauce au poivre was excellent, both on the duck and the potatoes. Friend said her salmon was very good as well. After dinner, we were served our salad and cheese, which was a nice sampling of bitter greens and 3 cheeses. One was definitely brie, and I couldn't tell you what the others were, although all were soft white cheeses. Just the right amount. Then we were treated to our dessert. I had mousse au chocolat and she had creme brulee. Both were very tasty. After dinner we had coffee. Un double expresso for me and a cafe creme for her. When they brought our check to us, it came with marinated cherries in some liquor I didn't recognize, but it was the perfect treat to end the meal. Overall, especially for the price, we both thought it was just outstanding. The service was friendly, not rushed, but attentive, and we really felt liked we'd dined at some starred resto instead of the quaint little place we stumbled into. The food was good. Really good. Not haute cuisine, and probably not up to par with food snob standards, but for a menu at 29 euros, considering that it was four courses with the kir royale, it really was outstanding, and one I'd rate very high for someone shopping for dinner in that price range.
The 4 course meal for each of us, with kir royale, a 50cl pot of Merlot, a bottle of 1664 and two coffees came to 78,50 euros.
I'm not a food writer (obviously) so I can't describe the meal with as much detail as I would like, but I hope you can grasp what I'm trying to impart, and if you're looking for dinner that has it all for less than 40 euros a person, definitely check the place out.
