It needs to sleep 5 and be easily accessed from CDG meaning, we would prefer to only have to make one transfer from the RER B to another metro line if possible. We are on a strict budget of less than 1200 euros would like a washing machine and we don't care how tiny it is - we don't plan on spending much time there. Any thoughts?

Yes, I rented through them three years ago. I made offers on several apartments, but they all fell through as they couldn't get the owners to respond. Once I found one where the owner responded, it all went well, but I did not feel that the agency would take any responsibility if something went amiss.

Good to know Laura - I would not like that one bit. And thanks Jody - we liked that one too. My husband just found a VBRO listing for an apartment by St Michel so we have some decisions to make

Well I've used Lodgis services three times, last year (Oct' 2009) and this year (July 2010 and this week). I was delighted last year, the service was perfect. It's been a nightmare both times this year, it's a complete nonsense, the sales representative is useless. I really can't figure out what happened to them. Their fees have not changed, though (much too high, but now, I would be ready to pay for service) A pity because their website is nice and their flat offering is good. But... Have you ever heard of an agency asking for your tax return as a proof of solvency? Have you ever heard of an agency insisting on your payslip even though you keep repeating that you are self-employed? Have you ever heard of an agency refusing your offer to pay the full length of stay in advance (I was renting for 3 month - for a business mission in Paris). Any landlord would love that (well I would). A waste of time and effort. You'd get a better service from any French administration. And as a landlord, you'd probably miss fewer opportunities to rent! Anybody knows a serious agency in Paris that does short term rental (on a monthly basis)? And that delivers more service than hassle? I have heard of www.parisattitude.com. Anybody has tried them? PS: I can prove all the above (exchange of e-mails with Lodgis)

Thanks nutsabouttravel.
I have just had a look at the book-a-flat.com website and that's what they need from you to apply:
"The following documents must be provided:
- your passport or ID card - your last three payslips or other documents proving any other sources of income - your last tax statement - your guarantor's passport/ID card and last tax statement (if applicable) " My answer is: NO WAY!. In my opinion, they are of the same breed as Lodgis (and maybe have the same genitors).
I have never been asked to provide a tax statement or payslip in Brussels or London for a short term rental. I am paying, so what else? This confirms my old belief that it's easier to buy a flat in France than rent one.

Having lived in both Paris and London, I agree that they are requiring way too many documents but unfortunately, this is the law in France, especially if you wish to rent long-term.
It's totally different from London where you might only need to show an ID and payslip or work certificate. However, it's also much easier for a landlord in London to kick out a tenant who doesn't pay his rent, which is also why they don't need so many guarantees.
