Hi,, stayed at these two hotels this past May-June trip and loved both. Both are cheap(ish) both were VERY central. Neither was deluxe in any way, but both had A/C and nice clean rooms.
Hotel Saint Pierre- small but very quiet room. Shower stall was small, but all fixtures in bathroom were new. Toilet was seperate from washroom, but both were ensuite. Decor was motel non chic,, but location made up for plain jane looks. 80 euros for single room. would stay here again if price is main consideration( which for me on this trip it was, as was solo and needed 15 nights in hotel)
Hotel Eugenie- room was average size, a/c , mini fridge, bathrooms were clean/new/ modern.Shower was great fully enclosed stall, normal size. Bed was comfy. Room faced busy (mostly)pedestrian street, but windows were double glazed so noise was not huge issue. Staff super helpful. Location was literally X marks the spot tourist central, but so convenient to everything,, metro and RER 1/2 block away ( St Michel) . A/C worked well , and loved having safe and mini fridge . Will choose to stay here again. Paid 99 euros a night for single.
I also spent one night at Hotel De Place du Louvre. Love this hotel but at 130 euros a night ( last year was only 106!!!) I couldn't choose this for extended stay. This hotel is worth the extra bit though,, its a nice moderate hotel .

Love the location of the Eugenie. We stayed right across the street at an apartment at #33. I'm saving it for a trip when we ddon't get an apt. The ate was really reasonable for a double.
Was breakfast included and did they have Wifi?

I can recommend Hotel Cervantes in the 8th. Almost in the 17th and Matro Rome is only two minutes walk away. As we had a "deal" with Air Canada I don't know the actual price but don't think it is much over 100euros. The rooms are on the small side for North Americans but are clean and the washroom is of a decent size. Breakfast was included and consisted of pastries,Scrambled eggs, sausages, cheese, cold cuts, cereal etc.Within walking distance of GL and Printemps.

Although I think he tries to keep it under his bonnet, Hotel Saint Pierre is where the Traveling Professor (aka Pixfield from TA) lodges his tour group. Rack rate is about 85E for a double.

Yes,, I met the Travelling Professor( I actually met him through TA) . We just had time for a brief chat... but he did invite me to join his group for a tour around,, I didn't have any time though .. Lucky man to be able to do what he does,, at first glance I was envious of his side job( he is actually a math professor in "real" life) but then I realized that every time he goes to Paris he has to hit the same places over and over again. Steve( real name) keeps his groups small( 15-16 people I think) so it never felt like there was a group in the hotel at all.
Breakfast was not included but was only 6 euros I think,, not a bad price for hotel breakfast. I ate out anyways. I don't know about WIFI as I travel tech free( except for camera!)
