We just got back from our 1st trip to Paris, and I can see why so many people love it. It was all truly amazing. My son in law called from Toronto this morning, and we decided that even though we have many more places to see in Europe, Paris will be our gateway. A few days there to begin every trip. My computer at work already has one of our Paris photos as wallpaper. We got so much helpful advice from people who now use this forum. We were also graciously offered a personal tour from one of the moderators, which I messed up, due to not understanding a recorded French phone message. I have apologized by email, which I hope will be accepted, and hope this will serve as a more public apology. I feel like a dope, and have inconvenienced someone who was going out of their way to show us a kindness. I hope there will be some way to make up for this.

Yes, we in this forum are in love with Paris and love to hear all the details of your trip! Your impressions, favorite finds, etc. etc.! Seems a lot of us feel a real "at home" feeling in Paris...I was so surprised that it seemed so natural and right to be in Paris ! (and then how I yearned to go back ... and will continue to yearn until my next trip gives me a fix!) In the meanwhile , we get our fixes here reading and chatting about Paris ...so yes, we are happy readers of all and everything about Paris!

One reason I lfelt so good in Paris is that I was able to walk around on my own (hubby was at a show, working) and felt free to explore anything that I wanted. Such a beautiful place and so walkable!

Hi tripnebraska, Glad you enjoyed your time in Paris, and it would indeed be good to hear about your trip. Like others have said, we come back from one visit and start yearning (from the point we get into the taxi o/s the hotel ) for our next visit, so to take part in this forum and hear about other member visits, helps bridge that gap! Best wishes

So glad you fell in love with Paris, it does have a lure that we can not properly explain. Perhaps we all had a past life there. Many happy returns. ;D

Welcome home and welcome to the forum. We're happy to have another Paris-addict. There's no known cure, you know. You'll just have to pop in daily for a fix...

Oh, please, yes -- do a trip report. Love "walking around" with all those who have been lucky enough to be there! I have to wait until I make the decision to go this fall or spring or summer next year.
I'm kind of leaning toward next spring as I want to see all the flowers in the gardens and window boxes and be able to walk around with just a light jacket, if that ...... was in Paris last year the first week in July and don't want to experience the hot, hot weather again!!!

luvparee, don't rule out winter. I was there in February and wore only a light jacket the entire week. Of course, I'm from New England so 45-50 degrees seemed warm to me.

I was in a group meeting Thursday and we were talking about happy experiences. I said well I'm sure you are all tired of me talking about it but you have to see to believe. Your first experience can be overwhelming. You picture the Arc and Eiffel Tower as "normal" size from pictures you seen, etc. Nothing is like the first time you walk up the Champs and see the Arc and say "oh my xxx I didn't realize it was that big!"

Hi Luvparee,
We manage a trip to Paris each spring for our anniversary. This year temperatures were 27C!!! We were sat on the terrace at Cafe Mabillion with a salad and sancerre, with a light mist of water spraying over us from the terrace awning. Perfect!!!!
Best wishes

OH, so lucky to go to Paris every year! I can only dream of such wonderfulness! This is a pic of my trip last year looking out of our hotel window down the street ! (Elysees Union Hotel). Aren't we grand now that we are so techno savvy!? (Proust stayed in the room(s) nearabouts ours from 1919 to 1922)(was apartments then, I think).
