It's near St Germain and serves only shellfish. All the oysters are served raw. I think it was Kerouac that said they don't even have a stove> It's killing me not to be able to remember the name. I know someone went there

I have the Huiterie Regis on my list for future dining but have not yet been there. It's small, and I think you eat oysters, bread, and dessert!

I went there in Feb with a girlfriend. The only clients were tourists, the place was half empty and the minimum order was 12 oysters person. I tried to negotiate for their pate or their shrimp, or something of an equal price. Nothing doing. I will never go back and I would never recommend them. Their prices were also through the roof, which is fine, if the ambience had not been loud english. Otherwise, for oysters, I can get them better at 1/4 of the price at my market. And the monger shucks them for me, too!
I should add that Truffaut assures me that the minimum is order was news to him and he's a regular.

What a coincidence! I had raw oysters on the half shell for dinner tonight and I was trying to remember the name of the resto in Paris that Truffaut had mentioned. Thanks for posting the question, Jody. I guess the resto has changed since Truffaut posted about it - I certainly don't want to pay through the roof for even great oysters. Phread - a minimum order of 12 would not faze me. ;D
